Mise En Scene

Welcome inside my blog !

If this is your first time being here, welcome !

If not welcome my friend, I'm glad you returned.

Today we're not using our camera but we're using a sort of a technique dealing with a camera if that makes sense.

The technique or concept per say is called, "mise en scene", mise en scene is the setting or placing of a scene. The setting can be anything dealing with the elements such as, lightning, colors, makeup, props, costumes etc. Everything in the setting that makes it basically, a "setting".

Mise en scene assists in making the audience becomes more engaged within the events that's taking place.

For example, in this picture we see the subject is on the phone but taking in the setting you can understand that something important must be happening on the phone. The significance of his outfit makes a huge difference, it shows that he must be at work handling business, but if he was in pajamas or another outfit the mise en scene interpretation would've been completely different.

Are you getting the hang of things now ?

Great !

Another thing we can analyze about this photo is the fact that it's broad day light outside and the setting of the equipment doesn't look modern. Usually today in a modern setting, the subject wouldn't have all of these newspapers and outdated looking computers. So this is another thing to take into consideration when doing your analysis, pay attention to everything in the picture. Another thing to also analyze could be lighting, the lighting in this section is a bit dim but it's appropriate for the setting. If the subject was wearing makeup you would also include that and how  dramatic it's effect is reflecting the event in the present moment.

In conclusion mise en scene has many aspects so pay attention when analyzing !
