Example of Magazines: Dissect and Learn

 

So within our group, our topic is mainly focused on motherhood and the overall lifestyle of women. 

It's not an exact set topic but, it's something that interested us and we started to brainstorm on.

To begin with, now a days in most modern situations, magazines are always online, so we'll mainly be covering the aspect of an online and pdf magazine for dissecting and learning the format and the styles about magazines to guide me and my group when making our own for the first time via blog !

So in this magazine, named "Parents" they have many options to choose from when dealing with how to parent, aspects on how to save money, and also different suggestions on tools, tricks, and tips with kid toys and discounts they've found to. help other moms. 

We notice the different headlines and fonts being plastered throughout the magazine basically to grab the readers attention and to also give the magazine a variety of eye catchers within.

Somethings many people don't recognize in a magazine either is the different text boxes and elements many authors and creators use to elaborate more and separate different sections of the article or the topic for many reasonings. When paying attention to magazines you may also realize the bold and italic words that there are throughout the text. 

In addition to my ramble of wonderful findings, of course every magazine has to have a target audience and an issue. So for this magazine we see that the target audience is Parents but there is an aspect and section for motherhood as well as parenting advice for those who are single moms. 

I realized with this blog, even though their general audience is parents and parenting in general as the topic, they also cover subtopics which still focuses on the main issue which are the children and the parenting of them. 

Setting up my magazine I would love to cover the aspects of the subtopics as well for it to be a little more helpful and this way you can target more of an abundant audience when you attract different groups in need of information. 

As I go through the magazine, I also realize that their is a search bar also. Keep in mind I mentioned this is both a physical hard copy magazine as well as online. But online they share the feature of having a search bar so you can specifically look for the information you need wether it's from a previous input or current, you're able to find your information more accessibly, finding what you need exactly and precisely.

Another thing I see about this magazine is they also have advice from celebrity moms and dads, many people glories and praises many celebrity parenting from the outside so this is a good way to target the audience, by bringing in different aspects of marketing by manipulating the target audience.

One thing I can say I dont necessarily appreciate is, the excessive amount of sub topics. I love the idea and want to us the idea as an outline for my own personal use, but I don't think it should be as many subtopics, make everything compact and enough for it to be inserted unto a list when parents especially mothers go onto the website. 

I think that having a variety of magazine is essential because many people do different creative layouts and double spreads, so every once in a while go to your local store and dissect a magazine for once.
